Cochlear And Hearing Implants In Indiachoices

Depending on the case, one of these will be chosen. Here is a little information about each hearing device.

Bone Conducting Hearing Device

This is particularly used on people whose hearing loss is directly connected to their outer ear or middle ear with little or no damage to their inner ear. A middle ear implant will be inserted in a bone that is located in the middle ear such that instead of the sound coming to the ear being amplified, the MEI device will move the bones to the eardrum.

Osseointegrated Device

This is a hearing device that is best suited for people that are suffering from conductive hearing loss or mixed hearing loss. Here, there is a small titanium vibrator that is inserted behind the affected ear in the skull.  It is anchored by a bone, and when there is an incoming sound, the vibrator will start to vibrate, and these vibrations will be transmitted via the bone and into the inner ear.

Soundbite Hearing System

This hearing aid does not need any surgery. There is a behind-the-ear (BTE) microphone that is worn on the ear that is affected and an in-the-mouth (ITM) device that is worn on the back teeth on the side of the affected ear. When the microphone receives the sound waves, it transmits it to the ITM wirelessly. In turn, the received sound will be converted to vibrations by the ITM device and then transmitted to the inner ear. The outer ear and the inner ear will have no part to play.

Cochlear Implant

This is for people with nerve deafness whereby they have a cochlear with hair cells that are damaged. The cochlear is computerized, and it sends electrical signals that are coded to stimulate the hearing nerves. Therefore, the hearing of a person is improved.
