Problems related to the nose are indeed very uncomfortable to live with. Because most often they are related to allergic reactions and symptoms which appear almost on a daily basis, or symptoms which are very severe and appear only on and off. Septoplasty<\/a>:<\/h3>\n

The septum is the partition present in the midline, between the two nasal cavities. The septum can be abnormally aligned obstructing airflow within the nose. This abnormality can arise as a result of trauma to the nose, or it can be something you are born with as well (congenital). A septoplasty is a procedure which is performed to correct the alignment of the septum, in order to improve the airflow.<\/p>\n

Turbinate reduction:<\/h3>\n

The turbinates are curved sheets of tissue present deep within the nose and again they play a role in ensuring that the air flow within the nose is smooth. When they are enlarged or abnormally shaped, then they can obstruct the air flow. A turbinate reduction is done using an endoscope and can be done together with a septoplasty as well.<\/p>\n

Nasal polypectomy:<\/h3>\n

A nasal polyp is an overgrowth of the tissue which lines the inner walls of the nose. This growth is usually benign (harmless), but the need to remove it arise because it can lead to difficulty in breathing by obstruction to airflow. It is often caused as a result of allergies and infections, and is performed as an endoscopic procedure.<\/p>\n

Functional endoscopic sinus surgery: <\/h3>\n

This is a modern day surgery which is becoming increasingly popular for those who are suffering from sinus disease. It makes use of an endoscope and various other small instruments which can be sued to access the sinuses through the nostrils, making the procedure minimally invasive. This procedure helps to clear out the blocked sinuses, making their openings bigger, so that mucus does not get trapped within them again.<\/p>\n

Septorhinoplasty:<\/h3>\n

This is a combination of two procedures, a septoplasty and rhinoplasty, which is done for the purpose of improving the airflow within the nose as well to improve the shape of the nose.
